These patterns are all paper pieced. If you know me by now, you'll know I love to paper piece! Maaike gives her own methods of how to do paper piecing. She has a different method than I use in how to prepare and use fabrics to paper piece. There are often several ways to do any method, and her method may be easier for some people to do, so you might want to check it out.
The patterns are not hard and she has a nice variety of projects you can make. Several of them are not too large and would make very nice gifts.
This table runner is one of my favorites:

The table runner includes a lot of the different cups and saucer patterns.
The Welcome sign quilt is another one that would make a nice gift for a friend:

My favorite cup is one I bought in Florida. It is a fine china cup, but holds 12 oz. I also have some of my mother's and grandmother's dishes. I love the beauty and the heritage of these pieces. Mary Ebert
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome book - so glad it has been reworked. I have seen so many lovely quilts made from patterns Maaike has designed! WOW - my fav china was my grandmother's tea service - Morgan Rose....beautiful roses on lovely bone china!
ReplyDeleteAn old, delicate, china cup and saucer, with tiny flowers on it...part of a partial set of china which belonged to my grandmother and which came from what was then Czechoslovakia, where she was from.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite cup is a tall, purple mug with a gold, abstract elephant wrapped around it. It was a gift from my second son, because I love elephants. And, coincidentally, today is "World Elephant Day". Love the patterns in this book, would love to make the table runner.
ReplyDeleteLove my big black coffee mug
ReplyDeleteMy maternal grandmother mailed me one of the fine bone china teacups/saucers from her own collection shortly after our daughter was born. It is covered in small pink rosebuds and the accompanying note said, "Rosebuds for my little rosebud." I still cry when I hold it, and Zoey is now 41.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You are the winner for the free ebook Cups and Saucers. Please send me your email address so it can be sent to you. If I don't hear from you by Weds, a new winner will be chosen.
DeleteI pretty much love any and all china teacups. My current favorite is a little white Royal Albert Memory Lane teacup with tiny blue and purple flowers on it.
ReplyDeleteWell, that is one of the most adorable (well all are adorable) table runners, very eye catching. For me it's eye candy. Love Love all the designs posted, thx for sharing your review.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of favorites, mostly because I have a collection of tea cups my Mother had collected throughout her life. I also have a really special dish which was my Grandmother's. She is from England and is a Porridge Bowl with adorable bunnies on the bottom and other childhood characters from years ago when she was young. I don't think I could choose just one of these as they are all very special to me.
